10 Things That Make Hollin Meadows Shine

Welcome to Hollin Meadows Elementary School, a vibrant and inclusive learning community where leadership and hands-on experiences thrive. With students and staff from around the globe, we are committed to creating a supportive and engaging environment that empowers students to excel academically, socially, and as future leaders.

Inclusive School Culture

Hollin Meadows is a diverse school that welcomes students and staff from all over the world. There are over 20 different home languages spoken by our families and bilingual staff members who speak multiple languages. Our students learn to appreciate and respect their classmates’ cultures and traditions through everyday interactions and events such as our Multicultural Fair.

Our Students are Leaders

Our school is excited to provide leadership opportunities for our students. Our Student Council has representatives from every classroom in Grades 3-6. These students meet to plan school spirit days and share ideas about how to make our school a better place. Our SCA President even helped with interviewing candidates for an open Assistant Principal position. Our Safety Patrols are trained to keep all students safe on the buses and in the hallways of our school. We also have a rotating group of students who produce and star in our daily live morning news program.

Strong Community Involvement

Hollin Meadows is fortunate to have strong support from our families/PTA and the local community. Our award winning PTA works tirelessly to support us. They coordinate and run after school student clubs, the WATCH DOGS program, multiple teacher luncheons and breakfasts, and many other programs. We have a partnership with the Be the Good Project, which provides seasonal care packages and a Little Free Food Pantry. Burlington Coat Factory has provided us with a $5,000 grant this year. We appreciate all of the support!

Focus on Hands-On Learning

Hollin Meadows combines traditional instruction with experiential learning through its outdoor classroom and garden programs. These spaces encourage students to engage in inquiry-based learning and connect academic concepts to the natural world.

AVID Program

Hollin Meadows is proud to implement AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a program designed to prepare students for college and career readiness. It equips learners with essential skills like organization, goal-setting, and critical thinking.

Additional Support Staff

As a Title I school, we are fortunate to have a wealth of resources for our students, including additional support staff. Our school has 2 reading specialists, 2 math specialists, 2 high impact tutors, 4 classroom monitors, an instructional coach, 2 counselors, and 4 ESOL teachers. These specialists work as a team with our teachers to support all of our students.

Purple Star School Designation

Hollin Meadows is a designated Purple Star School, recognized for its exceptional support for military-connected students and their families. This honor underscores the school’s commitment to inclusivity and community connection.

Get2Green Program

This initiative integrates sustainability into the curriculum, fostering a love for nature and environmental stewardship among students. This year our students are working on collecting 1,000 pounds of plastic bags to clean up the environment and to earn a free bench from Trex.

Renovated Facilities

The 2019 renovations enhanced Hollin Meadows’ infrastructure, creating state-of-the-art learning spaces. The updates include innovative outdoor areas such as an outdoor classroom and gardens and modernized classrooms designed to support 21st-century learning needs.

Nutritious Meals for All Students

Thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision, every student at Hollin Meadows enjoys a nutritious breakfast and lunch daily at no cost. This initiative supports students' well-being and ensures they are ready to learn without concerns about food security.
